ABOUT THE CLUB...

Rocky Top Trail Ride was established in the fall of 1997. The trail ride site is located in the Cross Junction area of Frederick County Virginia. This club provides wonderful trails for each of us to ride on, a nice place to camp and an opportunity to volunteer and help the community! And least not forget great time with family and friends and our wonderful equine companions!! The club's annual activities include a spring  several parades , we host the petting zoo and pony rides for the Frederick County Fair. We also help at the Gainesboro Fire Dept yard party. We help Golden Horseshoe host horse shows at the new Frederick Co. 4-H Arena.  Also in October we co-sponsor the Haunted House & Halloween Hayride with the Gainesboro fire company! Rocky Top just helps our wherever and whenever needed!!

Rocky Top Riding Club not only supports the community in Frederick County but we also receive support as well.  Some of you may not realize but GAINESBORO FIRE & RESCUE is at each Rocky Top event with EMS personnel for your safety.  They let us use the firehouse kitchen to prepare the Rocky Top Chicken take out dinners that we all enjoyed.  They also let us use the firehouse for the annual Rocky Top Christmas Dance in December.  In return, Rocky Top presents a donation to the firehall at their annual banquet and we assist them with many of their functions throughout the year.....So when you see these hard working men and woman at our rides please give them a thumbs up!!!

In July, the FREDERICK COUNTY FAIR is a week long event for  ROCKY TOP and our sister club GOLDEN HORSESHOE 4-H.  Not only do we provide a petting zoo & pony rides, but we also assist with many other events throughout the week.  And again all proceeds go to the fair.  Some members of ROCKY TOP & GOLDEN HORSESHOE stay at the fair all week long helping with the care of the numerous petting zoo animals and not to mention the horses and ponies.  Thanks to all that volunteer during fair week! Without you we could not put smiles on all those kids faces!!!

Rocky Top is the place to be if your looking for a relaxing scenic trail ride!  This four hour long ride in June & September consist of mostly wooded trails, beautiful hay fields, wildlife, and creeks and streams to cross.  There are no paved roads on this ride.
We also have two pit stops during the ride.  Once you and your equine buddy have gotten a little rest and maybe a snack, then it's time to check your saddle, and off we go again.  Rocky Top staff are all equipped with radios for communication throughout the ride, and several of our staff are licensed medical personnel with first aid bags, to be there just in case the unexpected may occur.  There is always an ambulance on site.
There are also no alcoholic beverages before or during the trail ride!  This helps everyone have a safe enjoyable ride they'll remember!  If you are able we'd love to have you stay and camp with us all weekend.
After the long ride we will have a potluck dinner,  everyone brings a dish or two and we'll have some good eatin'! Rocky Top will provide hot dogs, buns, tea & lemonade, and of course paper eating supplies.   After a full belly & maybe sneak in a nap there's horseshoe pitchin', music with our D.J. "Possum", and just a good old time catching up with friends.  Rocky Top invites you to a weekend of relaxation, fun times with family & friends and great memories that will last a life time!  Hope to see ya'll there!
Happy Trails

All ROCKY TOP'S events are made possible by the hard work of friends and members!  A BIG THANK YOU to all who have and continue to support us whether by monetary donation or time given!!!

In 2005 we hosted our first annual Golden Horseshoe 4-H trail ride and picnic. Rocky Top members took the 4-H group out for an afternoon ride and then back to camp for a lunch cooked by our Rocky Top chef's!!! For our second annual ride on August 26 we plan to include a trail course for the kid's prior to the trail ride . This will be a great chance for  each of them to learn safety and trail etiquette.
